Unless you're starved for something to do, I wouldn't waste the money on this. It's very simple and I suppose maybe childern would enjoy it more, but, only takes about 1/2 hour to tour.
While visiting Bar Harbor we wanted to ensure we stopped at the Ocenarium because our friends had raved about their visit this past year. We walked into the building and were warmly greeted by the owner and staff. They were so friendly from the moment we arrived. We proceeded to have a lengthy conversation with the owner about the lobster...

We found this wonderful treasure after spending 2 rainy days in September in Bar Harbor. The owner and his wife are extremely knowledgeable and spent lots of time answering questions. My husband is a retired science educator and we go to the coast of NC often. These two folks were entertaining and dedicated to preservation of the oceans. They added...

We thoroughly enjoyed learning about Lobsters, what is being done to insure a larger survival rate and what the challenges are related to increasing the population. The show and the talk were very informative as well as entertaining. We're glad we went.
It is a great place to see baby lobsters & learn the life cycle of a lobster. Also the children can touch sea creatures and learn about them. The whole family will enjoy the time spent at the Oceanarium. I was 70 years old when I went to the Oceanarium and I learned a great deal about
lobsters and sea...

Looks like a tourist trap from the road but what an education inside. It's not fancy or modern or high tech but if you are at all curious about the lobster industry this is the place to learn. Some people will love this place others will hate it. It all depends on what you are looking for.
Don't be fooled by the cheesy 1st stop of the tour. Very informative and interactive experience for old and young alike. Seems there was a fire and some money problems but they are privately owned and are a real asset to the community. In this day and age of tourist traps the Oceanarium is a must see when visiting Bar...

We had no idea though that the hands-on discovery pool presentation would turn out to be the highlight of our visit. The charming woman presenter was extremely knowledgeable about all of the sea life in the...

Surprised at the negative stuff on TA on Oceanarium. I loved it. Neat property and I enjoyed all this.
