Very scenic; great fun jumping in the water. Did the "buggy boogie woogie. (apologies to Capt. Beefheart).
It was very muddy and slippery. There are alot of points you have to go over streams on rocks so it is definitely a challenge in that aspect. We went in aug so it was very crowded as well. I'm from Niagara Falls so the tiny waterfall at the end just wasn't worth it for me. It was nice to... More
This is a great and free hike! The falls at the end is small and underwhelming, but the point is the hike. There is a part nearing the falls where you get a view of the surrounding area and it is spectacular. The journey is the fun, not the destination :-) Definitely do this one if you can!
Muddy? Yes Crowded? Yes Hard to find? A little Free? Yes If you are looking for a fun and free trip, it is a must. The hike was moderate and the falls were refreshing. Was not a fan of the frequent graffiti. Be safe and watch your gear while swimming. There were a few upper cliffs to jump off that... More
Maunawili Falls gets a bunch of play in the guidebooks, but in reality it is nothing more than a swimming hole with a small waterfall trickling down the side of the hill. On most weekends, it can be crazy crowded with a mix of locals, military and tourists which can be combustible given the amount of alcohol folks hike in.... More
I've done this hike the past three years! It's always an adventure, a challenge as well as just plain fun! Bring water, bug spray & be prepared to get your feet wet & muddy. The sights & the beauty are well worth the wet, muddy shoes! This hike has lots of protruding tree roots & requires hiking up & back... More
This was a great hike! The falls and pool at the end were well worth the treck. You have to jump in from the rocks. the fresh water is a nice break from the salt water if you spend a lot of time in the ocean during your trip. You have to cross the creek 3 times during the hike,... More
Went there on a rainy day, slippery and muddy and pretty long walk but in the end you'll find a waterfall. The tracks will sometime split and lead you out of nowhere if you don't pay attention. I found out that if you keep you have two choices, choose the LEFT ONE! The waterfall is small and today it was... More
This was a nice hike. Muddy at times to be prepared. You need mosquito repellent. It has stairs which could be difficult for shorter people. The waterfall at the end is a great picture. You can climb up some rocks and jump into the pool below, or you can just cool off in the pool. Very crowded on a weekend.
I used to go on this hike as a child. I always love swimming here. The views from the top (on the way to the falls) are unbelievable. You can jump from a choice of heights. Be careful. It can be pretty high. The water is super clean. Have fun.
