Breathtaking canyon at both official lookouts along Waimea Canyon SP, and nice large green lawn surrounded by woods to have picnic in Kokee SP, but if you want to see anything from Kakalau lookout at the end of the run, plan around cloud cover, be plenty patient, bring your pants/longsleeves (~50-55 deg F), and pop some dramamine for entire drive...

Multiple hike options each leading to incredible vistas. Best visited on dry days and start as early in the day as possible.

Stop into the visitor centre for guide books and naturalist books of Kauai. Good info of the natural history of the park and Kauai (also the flora and fauna). Be sure to toss in a couple of bucks in the donation jar if you do to help fund the place! Had a great day of hiking on a few of...

This is a beautiful park offering many hiking trails, overnight camping and cabin rentals. There is a museum and restaurant at about mile marker 19.
