This is a nice hike to the left from Shipwreck Beach. We actually walked from The Point at Poipu Resort along the coast to Shipwreck beach and then to the trail. You can walk right along the edge of the cliffs or back further among the trees. We found it amazing how quiet it was when walking among the trees... More

Thus far, this is my favorite coast walk on Kauai. The fun begins at the Hyatt and Shipwreck Beach, where daredevils leap and dive with abandon from Makawehi Point. There are 3 separate areas to explore beyond here: Gillin's Beach, Kawailoa Bay, and Ha'ula Beach. The cliffs are stunning, with blow holes and blue-green surf pounding the lithified sand. Local... This hike is an excellent way to enjoy an afternoon. Be sure to check out the small blowholes along the trail. At the the far eastern end of the trail, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the ocean and mountains!

Really cool geologic formation with native plants. This private property is being restored with native plants and you tell that much time and effort is being put into this property to make it very nice.

Surprisingly fun hike and great sights. Hike to the little beach at the end (no swimming, very rough). Great backdrop behind the hike and beaches. We were there on a really windy day, so waves crashing up on cliffs and rocks. People were kite boarding at the sand beaches on the opposite side. Definitely worth it.

If you aren't staying at the Hyatt or in the Poipu Kai area where it is easy to walk to Shipwreck Beach, note that there is public access parking right down by the beach. Turn in like you are going to the golf course and just keep driving down the road towards the beach. It looks, at first, like a... More

We started at the Hyatt and walked left for an hour and a half. We got to where the golf course starts and then we turned around. I met some people that said we had only gotten halfway to the end of the trail, so when people are saying this is a short trail, they are not counting the whole... More

This is a great hike that shows you a totally different landscape than the rest of the island. Head out by the Hyatt and plan on going at least as far as the golf course overlook. You can go on if you want and head toward mahaulepu. We like starting on each end on different days. Take your camera. These... More

Easy hike, easy access, stunning cliff views. There are several trails winding along the beach which present either a desert/cliff hike, a forest hike, and even a near-jungle hike all only several yards apart. Before reaching the red cliffs, winds along a golf course. At the horse stables, there was a truck selling coconuts. In some areas there are many... More
