This luau is the less traditional one, more like a dinner theater but that's what we wanted. Very enjoyable show especially the musicians and the fire dancers. Food was good considering they have to cook for 400. Can't go to Hawaii without seeing a luau.

This is not a Luau in the traditional Hawaiian sense. It is an indoor cultural theatrical performance of the highest quality with a so-so belly stuffer buffet. Held on an old English sugar plantation. The story line depicts the arrival of the first Polynesians to Kauwai in beautiful music, color and fire dancing. This is well worth the cost for... More

We went to the luau our last night in Kauai and it was wonderful. The story of the people of the island was well told and acted out. Everyone did a great job and I appreciated that we got the English translation of what was happening. The buffet was great and I sampled everything in it. Some I liked, some... More

This is truly a Hawaiian experience - from the crafts for sale in booths, the exhibitions of games and skills by Hawaiians, the imu pit, all the way through to the last of the dancers leaves the stage - you feel that you are part of the Hawaiian culture. We sampled all the food on the buffet, including poi, because... More

Having been to luaus on Maui and the Big Island, I was told that this one is different. OK, so I'll go... the concept of "theatre in the round" makes it more enjoyable, as more people are seated closer to the stage. The show was good, but the buffet food very standard. I found the kalua pork very salty, the... More

I'm very familiar with this luau and it's history. It used to be smaller, less expensive (!!), and much better. Now it is very big, not at all intimate (feels like a big ol' commercial luau), and very expensive. The train ride: The announcer rambled on the entire time, with really cheesy and boring commentary, even my kids were complaining... More

We were in Kauai and you don't go to The Hawaiin Islands and not go to a Luau. They show what I guess was a tribal ritual so you can make a head piece made from bamboo leaves and then there was spear throwing .The ladies were given flowered leis and the men shell leis. They take your picture with... More

Our concierge told us that Luau Kalamaku had the most authentic show and that the food was as good as any luau. Everyone who greeted us from the time we got out of our car was very friendly. It is a huge dining hall, theatre so check on your table location at the time you reserve - we were right... More

This is by far the best luau that we've been to on various Hawaiian islands, in fact we've been to it twice. We had a table directly off the stage & the show is fantastic & includes a narrative of Polynesian discovery & fireshow. The dancers; both men & women are 1st class &very freindly. As you enter the show... More

We had great seats right by the stage (table 411) and it was an excellent view of the show. I have been to seven luau's and this had one of the best shows I have seen. However I thought the food was mediocre. We were one of the last tables to go through the line do the food was not... More
