City market is a developing area with several cute shops, an excellent chocolate/card shop, bakery (note it closes early) and several vendors on weekends with farm goods and crafts. This is still a nice market, but it's been a few years since we were last here and it seems to have declined. They had live music - which was nice. Being a local Roanoker born and breed. This is one of my favorite things about Roanoke, The City Market area. In the summer time you can find all kinds of organicly grown fresh produce here. The local tomatoes always taste much better than anything you can find at the Supermarket. And theres always homemade jams and jellys and apple butter....
