Enjoyed the sunset cruise. We saw tons of birds, including a bald eagles. Saw ponies off in the distance, we couldn't get close. Heard a lot of local stories on the ride , overall worth it, kids enjoyed the ride.

They advertised the cruise as "Assateague Explorer Wildlife Cruises". Well there wasn't too much wildlife. I know that animals don't act on que. But I thought we would see "some" wildlife. Did see "some" ponies. Some yearlings. I'm a freelance photographer so I thought I would could get some great shots of the Assateague/Chincoteague ponies. Thank God I had a... More

What a paradise this place is. The people operating the boat were so nice, we even went kayaking when we got back to the dock just to see the places once we knew how easy it was to get around. We had a blast. We landed on a beach on the backside of the island later when we went kayaking,... More

We had a great time and this was surely one of a kind experience. We were very close to the ponies, it was peaceful and very relaxing. They brought us to a sand bar so we could get out of the boat and swim around, that was a very nice touch on a HOT summer day! :)

My husband and I rented a kayak from Assateague Explorer in the end of Sept. I had never been kayaking before, but felt prepared to go after being prepped ahead of time. While we didn't get to see any ponies or wildlife other than some turtles, we did have a fun time. We went over to a little beach area... More

We did the sunset evening tour with 3 young adult sons, my husband, and I. Our tour had one other couple and was led by a gal who was working on her doctorate, and was doing study in the area. She was originally planning on taking us a different direction, more toward the lighthouse and beyond there, but the other... More

Took a morning kayak tour with a new guide (only a few weeks on the job), but he was able to answer 99% of our questions. We didn't see any ponies, but there is no guarantee, since they are wild (or feral to be correct). Don't worry about having to paddle the entire time because you do stop off at... More

we enjoyed a family kayaking adventure. We rented 2 tandem kayaks and spent half a day on the water. We saw the ponies, bald eagles, turtles and more. we didn't go for the guided tourand liked the flexibility of going ourselves. be sure notto go too far out, we got tired at the end of the day. Don't worry about... More

We actually booked a mid-day cruise after staying at the National campground during 111 heat index. What a nice way to keep cool, especially if you have elderly and a small child as we did. We saw an eagle and other birds, dolphins, wild ponies, people crabing, and kayaking. The boat is covered and keeps you shaded during the heat of... More

Rented a single sweater for my 13-year-old and a double for me and my 12-year-old. Being inexperienced, we didn't get far or use up a half day, but it was nice being out on the water and getting some exercise, too. Saw lots of birds, but never got near any possibility of seeing ponies. Would love to go back and... More
