We are local members, and our kids love it here. Between the steamship, train, lighthouse, antique toys, carousel to ride, circus displays, and kids activity center we have lots to see and do. There is plenty of room to run around and picnic on the grounds.

What a better thing to do when the weather in the Adirondacks is too cool for water activities. It was on my bucket list for about 40 years and I finally got to go! The grounds and flowers were beautiful and the staff informative and helpful. The displays were well arranged and very well done. There is a blacksmith shop,... More

The Shelburne Museum houses an astonishing collection of American art and transplanted buildings with literally something for everyone---folk art, quilts, a working carousel, old lighthouse, carriages, home furnishings, fine art, a meeting house, general store--and more.

Shelburne Museum has outstanding collections ranging from a world class collection of Impressionist and Post Impressionist paintings to duck decoys to antique coverlets to classic American furniture. There is a carousel and circus museum for kids and a restored Lake Champlain paddle wheel ferry for dads. Plan to spend the better part of a day among well-curated collections.

I spent a very rainy and cold weekend in Shelburne but was lucky enough to be taken to this wonderful museum. He has many buildings spread out over several acres, and if the weather had been nice, would be a great place to take kids for an extended stay. My favorite was the Circus Building which had very large reconstruction... More

We went on vacation with our toddler daughter and were looking for places that would be kid-friendly and would hold our interest as well. This museum was perfect. Its website makes it appear to be an art museum but really, it is a wonderful park with dozens of small buildings displaying everything from old-time toys to a general store circa... More

Given that this museum apparently tends to get quite busy, I'm quite glad it was pouring with rain & freezing cold when we visited, since we got to see every exhibition without any waiting! There was lots to see, including a couple of beautiful Monet paintings. Most of the exhibits are Americana inspired. I thought the game collection (taxidermy animals)... More

You could spend an entire day at this museum, which is a collection of buildings on beautifully landscaped grounds. The Circus Building is amazing, with a collection of hand-carved circus attractions that has to be seen to be believed. The folk art building, the outdoor carousel, the Ticonderoga paddle wheel steamship, and the Adirondack collection are also wonderful. This is... More

I brought my father-in law who was once a passenger on the steamship Ticonderoga - he really enjoyed seeing this again! This is a world class museum that many people don't realize. Additionally, the museum will rotate art within a building encouraging you to visit again and again!
