I did the hike to Lye Brook Falls with a friend of mine whom I was visiting in the area on a snowy morning in March and it was kind of magical. It was snowing lightly when we parked in the area by the trail head so the trail itself was already covered with fresh snow. This was a double-edged...

Go in early spring when the cascading waters are at their peak. Don't forget your camera. You'll be on an abandoned railroad rite of way as you wend your way to the falls.
a great place to visit when in Manchester. Plenty of parking, good trail (takes about an hour to hike). The river is 20 feet wide and the falls are [unmapped] about 160 feet near vertical. When the river is low and safe enough to cross, continue on to the other side and follow the trail to the next river crossing,...

Hike was easy to find, had a good incline to start then great views of the valley. We were told it would be crowded, but saw just a few very friendly people. We then hiked to a stream and waded and napped. Lovely!
The hike from the parking lot off Lye Brook Access Road is steadily uphill for about 1.5 miles, after starting out fairly flat on a wide carriage road. Very nice hike with a waterfall at the end. Impressive avalanche damage caused by Hurricane Irene. Bring a snack to sit and take a break near the waterfall.
Only wish our camera could capture the beauty. Quick, easy trail, breathtaking falls await at the end
interesting going across the avalanche area ,some rocky areas in hike alot of up the mountain & other spots smooth & flat. As you get near the top there is a drop off to one side of trail.
I heard this was a beautiful hike, but recent breakis to cars were occurring. A couple staying at the same inn had their front window smashed and car contents stolen.
