This little historical village represents a huge amount of effort, as all the buildings were moved to the site to avoid destruction. The history of the town is fascinating and the buildings themselves were wonderful to explore. Our tour guide was extremely congenial and informative. We stopped and visited the homestead where they had all the furniture crafted by the original settlers. Our guide, Marijane Stafford was great. She did a great job explaining all the artifacts from the original settlement.

If you want to really get a feel for what the Texas pioneers lived like, do NOT miss the New Braunfels Conservation Society's Conservation Plaza. We had a very personal informative tour by the curator and left wishing we were having a wedding there just to walk under the lighted rose arbor.

During a recent visit to San Antonio our family reunion group drove to New Braunfels (30 miles from San Antonio) to tour the New Braunfels Conservation Society German Village called Conservation Plaza.
