when the wild flowers are blooming. Expect heavy traffic on prime viewing days. The loop traverses private land so please keep on the road and do not trespass!
It is scenic any time of year, but best in the Spring, when everything is green and blooming. Be aware that it is a private road with no shoulders, turnarounds, etc., and stopping or parking is absolutely not allowed.
Go in the spring for a great drive in the country and wild flowers that cover square miles of ground
I know the Willow Loop is crowded in the spring but the road is great any time of year. If you have only been on the bigger highways, this is close to Fredericksburg and is fairly short. You will get a great feel for backcountry roads. Watch for deer at dusk and cattle during the day.
I feel this is one of the best site for hill country theme road trip. Me and my wife had the trip in late Spring, during week day, away from all traffic and it's feels like we owned the whole area ! Even though the bluebonnet already gone, but the others wild flowers still blooming and there is colors everywhere... More
You never know how many flowers will pop each year, but if there are wild flowers, this is where you will see them. I can never get enough and each spring there are multiple trips thru WIllow City Loop. Have your camera ready!
This is a local scenic road that travels through the hills and valleys in the heart of the Hill Country. It is best seen during bluebonnet time. It will take your breath away around every corner!
Bring your camera and stop for memories. Travel slowly and expect the unexpected view of country meadows, fields, ranches, wild flowers and more. But be prepared... no restrooms until Enchanted Rock or Fredericksburg, so come prepared.
At the beginning of September, there are no flowers or anything colorful. On the other hand, it's still a lovely drive with deer and cattle and sheep and beautiful sights. There are some interestingly quirky fences and signs and gates, and it's worth stopping now and then just to enjoy the fullness of it - quiet and grand.
We have made the loop via Jeep and Harley. It is a beautiful ride no matter when it is made, but especially beautiful when the wildflowers are in bloom. It will be a yearly trip for us.
