For only 6 dollars a person, or less depending on age, you can have a very interesting and fun trip into Smoky Mountain past. There is a 20 minute movie that runs continuiously taking you to the history of the Smoky Mountains. It was so interesting to see how life was back then. Then you can take a trip into... More

The welcome centre/museum provides good background information on how life has been in the area from the time of the first settlers to present. Volunteer guides took us to visit the relocated buildings on the property. We were shown how cornbread used to be made and how folks used build their houses churches etc. More exhibits are present in the... More

You can spend several hours at the museum. There is a lot of history about the area and the Native Americans that once lived there. The gift shop has unique items like the little fat bear candle I bought. There are displays inside including many donated items. Outside there are several buildings that you can tour and enjoy the peaceful... More

We stopped here to see the gift shop and almost didn't bother going into the museum area. It turned out there is an outdoor area behind the building with historic old houses, a church, and barn to see. Inside there is a 30 minute film that runs continuously giving some history of the Smoky Mountains and the people of Cades... More

I usually shy away from a museum with a basis such as this but I accommodated my gf since we didn't have much else planned for the day. Good thing! The movie showing the past history of the area was very informative as it showed some f the things we saw during our stay. The best part though were some... More

Happened to stop here and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Learned a lot, bought a little and got a referral for an awesome scenic ride and walk.

This museum is not large but full of information about Townsend and the Smokies. Focus is on the early pioneer days and is truly enjoyable. There are at times of the year so good concerts, etc that are very good and affordable. This is a fairly new attraction to Townsend and a very welcome addition.

They started Friday night concerts and they are good. They have a very beautiful amphitheater. Five doolars for a seat bring your own lawn chair.

This place provides lots of good information about Cades Cove. There's a film you can watch and then a seft guided tour you can wander through at your own pace. It's a nice place to go before you venture into the park. Be sure to go into the Transportation Museum, there's tables of brain teasers which kept my geeks busy... More

This museum has a larger amount to see and do. During the year they had activities for members and (non-members for a fee). We enjoyed the music festival they had last summer.
