Didn't go round the distillery , bought some whisky though, had some exellant cake and coffee in lovely surroundings . people very friendly . only problem was that you could have had a long wait for a meal as it seemed to be constantly busy, but the staff tried to accommodate people without making people eating feel rushed

We visited five distilleries on Islay in May 2013. The tour of the Ardbeg distillery was definitely the best one. The main reasons for this was the fantastic guide - and of course the whisky itself. After the tour we got a chance to taste two of the Ardbeg whiskies, and we got a complimentary tasting glass. There is also... More

Islay is a magic place. Ardbeg is the finest place on the Island. On a track where the best whisky distilleries lie, Ardbeg is the seat of the Emperor. Ardbeg remains the best single Malt in the world, might it be Corrywreckan or Arigh Nam Beist, Supernova or Ardbog, or the Always winning 10 years, the most exquisite produce in... More

Ardbeg serves some wonderful whiskies and is a pretty distillery to tour and walk around but a highlight are the offerings at the Ardbeg Café - delicious! We had a large plate of perfectly cooked grilled langoustines paired with a flight of Ardbeg whiskies - can't get much better than this and one of the better meals we had on... More

Top notch! General staff is genuinely friendly. "Big", our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and conducted the tour with the ease of a veteran, adjusting his pace for the group. After the walking tour, your 12 pounds (the cost of the tour and the tasting) stretch quite a ways in the tasting room with no fewer than six draaaaaams (3... More

As part of our trip to Islay, we visited Ardbeg as one of the distilleries and did not regret at all. The slight delay of 15 minutes in our start (due to fully booked slot) proved to be our advantage, as the tour then became much more personal. Aside from the standard run through all parts of the distillery, we... More

We have frequently had a light lunch at the Old Kiln Cafe located at Ardbeg Distillery and indeed no visit to the island would be complete without such a visit. The return this year was well worth while. We each enjoyed a toastie and then shared a portion of Clootie Dumpling (it is too much for one person!) and completed... More

The place was interesting, beautifully presented and staffed by helpful welcoming people. The restaurant was especially good and highly recommended as a location for lunch. The whisky, well, an acquired taste and - yes, really powerful stuff.

The staff at the Distillery were excellent, we went to have lunch there and had to wait as it was very popular (no wonder when we ate our meal!) and as my Mother was elderly, they found her a chair to sit on whilst we waited for a table to come free. The food was excellent, well worth a visit... More
