We went on a terrible July day, cold and wet. Very friendly (former prison) staff. Fascinating insight into prison life.

Wasn't brilliant. Don't know what I expected but it was more than this. Good job it was cheap

Must be the cheapest museum I have ever visited.
Certainly the most interesting as I didn't realise how prisoners coulkd be so industrious

We have visited this museum a few times now, and it always amazes me how they only charge £3.00 per adult for somewhere so interesting. Anyone visiting Princetown should visit here - the section of items made by the prisoners to be used for escaping or as a weapon is intriguing, as is the straight jackets, various uniforms and prisoners...

Next best thing to going through the gates for a look at life inside. Have a feel of doin 'porridge'. Looks at the past with interesting pictures and articles.

Good insight into the past, both historic and recent. Very fairly priced and staffed by knowledgeable folk.

Worth a visit. Interesting exhibits, and history but presentation a bit disjointed. Bit on First World war C Os quite sad. Despite the historical gruesome exhibits, and hard life prisoners obviously USED to have, we have to remember they were there for a reason! Should we have pity for the current inmates, on a less onerous regime??Only £2 entry.

My husband and I visited this attraction during a holiday to Torquay in September 2011. The man on the desk seemed very interested in and knowledgeable about the subject and was able to answer any questions that visitors had.
The museum itself is quite small but has lots of interesting artefacts and articles in it - there is definitely plenty...
