It was a great breezy place to park and enjoy the boats, seabirds, and quiet. We love the Port Royal area.
We visited The Sands during low tide and a storm was rolling in. There are tons of crabs and we were able to find numerous shark teeth. Not sure how busy the beach would be on a good day. It was worth it for us just for the teeth!
Nothing special at all. Boardwalks along the coast are a dime-a-dozen. In fact, don't waste your time here. Go to Hunting Beach State Park! The town wants to tout all it offers but just like its so called pride and joy Cypress Swamp, it doesn't come close to its billing! Small town folks thinking small is all they know.
I didn't know this was a beach until I looked it up lol...but it is a really great place to be especially at night to climb the tower and have that great view. You definitely won't be disappointed that it is not the usual beach setting you're used to.
This is the closest beach to downtown Beaufort SC. It gets crowded on weekends, but it is lovely for taking the dog for an early morning walk. Also, it has a great boat launch area.
