Charleston Visitor Reception and Transportation Center at 375 Meeting Street is a good way to start exploring downtown Charleston. We parked in their parking lot from 9 AM until 2 PM and paid $9.00. Later we learned that we could find street parking with meters and pay a lot less! The Charleston Visitor Center has several walls with a vartiety... More

This is a great place to park your car - can park there all day for $10 in the ramp. From there you can catch free trolleys with three routes that take you into the most popular areas of the city. This is also a great place to get a brief introduction to the city and it's attractions. We bought... More

With misleading names like “Welcome Center,” there’s a host of tour companies that falsely give the impression they’re the official center. There’s only one, at 375 Meeting St., Charleston, SC 29403 (843/724-7174, CharlestonCVB.com). The multi-story parking garage with the entrance off Meeting Street offers lowest rates, and no fee for those with handicap placards. The official Visitor Center is like... More

It has a lot of information and the tour they give you is really nice and the bus driver has all the history on all of the buildings and locations....you get to see a lot of Charleston on a short time that you might have missed if you go on your own. The price is very reasonable and it takes... More

Our B&B house manager told us about the free trolley that circled downtown Charleston. Turns out there are 3 trolley routes, all free. One of the trolley drivers turned us on to a truly French macaroon/pastries shop and provided some historical information about Charleston College and Charleston itself. Taking the trolley as soon as you get to Charleston will provide... More

Make this your first stop when visiting Charleston. Free parking for the first half hour. Lots of brochures, info booklets, and coupons. You can book tours or tickets here. Little souvenir store if you are so inclined. Lots of information on Charleston and it's history.

My husband and I stopped in here in the morning of 11/24/12 to purchase tickets for an historical homes tour I had read about. The man at the counter was nice and talked us into a carriage ride also. I was excited about this because I have never done one. He told us that one of the companies fills fast,... More

For 2012 this was our second visit to Charleston and this facility. I really appreciated it better the second time around. Of course it has information available about the historic city and all Charleston offers but it stands on its own merits. We used this as our base of operations when visiting the city. We parked in the parking garage... More

Lots of information available. Knowledgeable personnel. Coupons, maps, tour bus depot next door. Center is about 3/4 mile north of the old section.

We have never been to a visitor center before. We went to Charleston as a spur of the moment weekend trip and had no plans in mind other than a dinner cruise. The visitor center helped us in purchasing cheaper tickets for a carriage tour and Boone Hall Plantation. We also needed a place to stay. We were able to... More
