Another beautiful Pittsburgh landmark, this cemetery in the middle of bustling Lawrenceville is the final resting place of Stephan Foster Collins, the American songwriter. There are some fantastic tombs for people I have never heard of but they must have been somebody at one time. It is well, kept and an interesting place for a good hour's walking entgertainment

300 acres, in fact. So large that there is a heard of deer that LIVE there! We went to see Stephen Foster's grave (section 21, I believe), and also stopped in to see the historic admin building, as the architecture is quite nice for a cemetery. Many immense monuments to figures who were obviously movers and shakers in their day,... More

As a midwesterner used to the flatlands of norther Ohio, the sprawling cemetery up and down the mountainsides was a fantastic sight. Just a few hundred yards from the busy streets of Pittsburgh and you are in a beautiful cemetery. We visited the mausoleum where my sister in law resides - also a memorable place.

Yes it's true. My dear departed brother Tony has been gone for well over a year, cremated but still not laid to rest. We can only hope his soul is ;-(

The Allegheny Cemetery offers a historical yet peaceful experience. There are many old interesting monuments and headstones to view as you stroll through the tree lined paths. It is difficult to see much of the cemetery by walking unless you have a lot of time and energy. I recommend that you walk through parts of the cemetery and then drive... More

This place is huge so plan on spending some time here! Great old cemetery stones, mausoleums, and views. There are many hills so you may want to drive through and stop at spots that interest you.

Allegheny Cemetery is a real gem in the heart of old Lawrenceville in the city of Pittsburgh. It is allows for a beautiful walk along paved paths shaded by large, old trees. The monuments and family ploys allow a step back in time to the great era of industrialization in Pittsburgh, many names still being recognizable. It is open to... More
