Beautiful little Beach with good access and plenty of surfers in the area. Great day out with family and friends.
Belongil beach is close to the Main beach but has the advantage to be far enough from the town centre to avoid the crowd! Squeaky white sand beach available too!
Great long sweeping beach that is next to the main beach at Byron but far less crowded. It is easily accessible with a car park just above Belongil creek. Relatively shallow with surf running at about a mmetre or so most days. Lovely spot to while away a few hours.
Protected and relatively safe swimming beach, but Life Guards only present near town, so be careful.

Love this quiet beach! Such a clean small beach! It was fun watching all the dogs have their evening walk there! Great views of the Lighthouse!
The beaches in Byron Bay are beautiful and none quite like Belongil Beach, it runs from town to the estuary before Tyagarah beach. It's in the bay and protected from the worst of the winds (except the northelies) the views are of Julian Rocks and the hinterland, just perfect.
Always enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the lighthouse with a Tiger Chai from the Silver Bullet Cafe in hand.

Also stayed at the Byron Beach Resort when in between...

we had a great day on beach, very european atmosphere as many women were topless. My wife and her friend felt very comfortable being topless with no perves or uncomfortable moments. You need to watch out for rips but other that it truelly is a beautiful beach.
At times the beach washes away in places.but overall there is a patch of paradise to be found.
It is backed by a really ancient sand dune which unfortunately has been built on. This means regeneration after high water doesn't happen as it used to. Add to that 10000 people a day thoughtlessly breaking up the layers of salt concretion...
