My wife is not know for being an adventurous person, but Jak from Hood River Water Play promised that he and his staff could get her up and running. In just one afternoon lesson, she was making turns in the beginner area and came home looking very pleased with herself. So, while I did not myself experience the lesson, I... More

Nice people but they took us to a small cove that was very windy. The locals later told me that Big Winds has a better teaching area.

We were left "holding the board". We were pleased to have had the chance to try our hand at stand up paddle boarding on the very hottest day of the summer, Great place, Hood River. However, as we were geared up and escorted to the waters' edge to embark on the boards along the river, we were absolutely not informed... More

We took the 3 hour windsurfing intro class. Our windsurfing instructor, Steve, was awesome. It was our first time windsurfing and he was extremely patient with us and made us feel very safe. At the end of one class we really felt like we had conquered the basics. We took our class near the end of August and didn’t have... More

I just didn't know if I wanted to set family vacation time aside for chasing wind, so I waited until the day we arrived in Hood River to call for a lesson. WaterPlay was... More

Jak is one of the best instructors I've ever worked with, and the level of service at Hood River Waterplay is excellent. The Hood River is not a very friendly place to learn, but Jak and his crew do their best to make it workable.

I contacted the owner about taking a friend of mine who was in the military and on leave windsurfing. The owner was very helpful and accomedating and ensured that my friends and I had a fantastic time out on the water. Great deal! Great education! Great time! I can't wait to go back and do it again.

These guys were great, very patient, and we all learned the basics of Windsurfing in a morning session. My 12 and 10 year old boys and my 7 year old girl all were up and surfing in a few hours! We had a blast and would definitely do it again. It is doable for young children who are willing, just... More
