We were visiting family in South Shields - staying opposite North Marine Park with the family living opposite South Marine Park. Each day we would walk through both parks and were really impressed with how well kept they are and the facilities in them for families and just for everyone to enjoy. Nice parks to relax in and enjoy a... More

A splendid example of what our forefathers did so well. Well maintained and often when viewing these parks one wonders why we cannot emulate the sheer scale of ambition that they once had and we now seem to lack. Well worth a visit and walk with plenty of places to stop for a coffee or tea.

Always worth the full walk through all of the parks and back along the seafront. Always a good day out and good for coffees as well as eating places.

Well kept parks. Probably the best on Tyneside, good early flower beds and shrubs. Good to see them unspoilt and adds to a day out.

Really lovely parks with good well tended gardens which remind me of Victorian and Edwardian England at its best

Nice spot on the seafront. Major investment made by local council. The miniature steam train has been there for decades, the lake has been cleaned up, there is a good play area for kids, and a chance for coffee, ice cream and candy floss. Quite a small park easily walked. On a hot day probably better than being on the... More

The South Marine Park has recently undergone an extensive overhaul and it is a its best; the victotian bandstand has been restored, the trees pruned, victorian beches reinstated. A safe play area for children s well as the steam train which runs around the park. All you need is the sunshine!!

Brings back my best memories of Shields as a kid. Great to walk through and totally unspoilt. Love the new cafe next to the boating lake. Lovely coffee and snacks

Obviously had recent work done, a lake with boats, good grassed area and flowers and plants. Nice playground for young ones and a tea room--restaurant.. Great in Summer, nice walk round in Winter.
