Easily reached by foot - a gentle 45 minute stroll from Beaulieu village. Offset any parking fees, ensure you give yurself enough time on your ticket, as your entry into Buckler's Hard will be free. Strangley the tea rooms are at the paying entrance but you can access by the entrance without having to pay again. The key is the... More

Visited this place with the objective of killing time between breakfast at a local hotel and lunch time. There is a lovely small museum shop which sells an amazing selection of momentos ranging from handbags to fridge magnets. Then you can walk quite a long way along the side of the river Hamble but as we only had an hour... More

Bucklers hard is lovely. There is the old slipway - used to launch ships for the Royal Navy in the Napoleonic Wars and a completely unspoiled set of cottages round it. There is a minichurch and bits of shipbuilding related things to see. There are walks along the river bank, boat rides on the river etc. And there is no... More

Nice to sit and enjoy the nice views and lovely scenery. One only down point is if you stand in the wrong place you can see the Fawley oil refinery.

Very expensive just to visit a small museum!! The general public can just walk in to the attraction from an adjacent marina!! The actual attraction is open to anybody. It's just that you need to show your tickets to enter the small museum. All the open houses, etc, you can just walk in. Very over priced for what it is.

Engaging museum with living characters (Balthazar Adams was great) and good quiz for the kids to follow. Pub is extortionate for both food and drink (£3.80 for a pint of shandy)

Interesting, historic, a snippet of the past in the most beautiful of settings. Go and treat yourself to a great day or even better, a long weekend away in rural Hampshire.

We went to Buckler's Hard which we recognised this being used in TV programmes. Very well kepted and informative. Would think it gets very busy during the warmer weather but we enjoyed it.

Even if you don't think you have an interest in our naval history, this little museum will grab you. It's just a short drive from Lymington on the Bealieu River and if the weather's clement you can walk into Bealieu Village. The museum itself is full of interesting facts and artefacts and has recently had a make-over so everything was... More
