Sohliya is a scenic village, located between Guwahati and Shillong. This village is famous for its strawberry farms. The climate of this region is suitable for cultivation of strawberries. It is eye catching scene of lovely red strawberries growing out of the green plantations.

We went there on Oct 17 2018. Village people did not allow us to even take a look at the farm. Even after pleading multiple times they told, "we have uprooted all the plants, there is nothing to see, come only during March and april.".
So plan accordingly. After disappointment when we saw a water stream near the paddy fields and sohliya arch we got down and started playing in the water happily.

We tried visiting the farm. Google maps has the location wrong. So that’s a wasted half hour on bad roads. Then we used the signboards en route and went through the giant “Welcome to Sohliya” sign and kept driving with no further signage or farm in sight. The few we tried asking for help, were unfortunately of no help - language issues. Since we had no idea how much further to go - and then we had to get to Shillong - and we were actually pretty frustrated, we turned back. Please make sure you know where the place is and the route before going there. Impromptu plans like ours may cause a lot of heartburn!

The Sohilya Strawberry farm is located between Gawhati and Shillong slightly off the National Highway. The village itself is quiet picturesque and the villagers helpful. One can see the strawberry cultivation and over the past few years this place has become one of the major strawberry producers in the State. Overall a good experience visiting this offbeat place.

after reading about it on TA, planned a visit to this place onway to shillong from Cherrapunjee. Its off the main highway, roads are in bad shape, not maintained and people cant guide properly. there are 2 ways after getting side from the highway, 1 way leads as per TA pictures and the other path leads as per the local sign boards. visited both the paths but could not locate any strawberry farms. few locals said, we cannot take the vehicle there, few said its not the season. left disappointed. would advise to inquire before planning for this place.

We went there qhen the strawberry plucking season was on, we got to work with the local strawbeery farmers and pluck them and bought some of them.
Its a new eco-tourism spot coming up here and it supplies a large amount of strawberries to rest of the country.

Sohliya also known as Strawberry Village is developing as a tourist spot too.
It is situated just 35 kms from Shillong towards Guwahati. From the NH one has to go 2-3 km inside.
Lodging facility is available in village from where one can view the Strawberry & Tea plantation. It gives the feeling of being in a farm house.
One can see the Strawberry cultivation & the villagers welcome it.
Fishing, Hiking, also available.

Tourists visit the area for a bit of Strawberries and Bird watching. Fair bit of walking is required for guests to explore the area on foot.
