It felt like traveling back in time. The place was deserted and the monoliths looked like sentinels guarding something sacred. I felt disappointed to find a plastic bottle underneath one slab and to see some abandoned concrete structure a little away from the site. This place should be protected and respected.

A very deep & dense Forest with many medicinal plants & big trees, Sun rays cannot penetrate even at noon. No body should pluck any flowers or fruits from these trees. If found doing so it is said that God of the forest punishes them. Persons found to indulge in any illegal activities within the forest, died soon in mysterious... More

Must visit. 15- 20 mins from Elephant Falls. Beautiful landscape. If planning to go inside forest, make sure to have boots and hire a guide. There is no visible notice or information board or signway, so you might take time to figure out where and to go whom to ask.

This place can be visited when you are planning to go to Mawsynram. Need to deviate 10-15kms from the route towards Mawsynram. Nothing much about it. A peaceful place. Need to take a guide to enter the forest. No animals whatsoever. The guide will tell some stories about some local culture and some rituals done in the forest. There is... More

This was never there in my original itinerary of Meghalaya trip. But got added at the last minute & I am glad that I got to do this. This is a sacred forest & has a rich Khasi tradition & story behind it. Our guide Job gave us the whole details about the forest, the customs followed in good old... More

The sacred grove is wooden and peaceful. There is a huge plain surrounding it. Make sure to go all the way to the cliff to see the interesting sights of valleys from there.

Absolutely serene and beautiful. The trail that leads you there is breath taking. it shoudl have taken us on 20 mins to walk there. but took us 2+ hrs since we kept staring into the trees and admiring the flora. You will need a local guide though! and behave yourself!

It may be out of the way but surely you will enjoy this place. It is perched on a hillock overlooking the road to Mawsynram (the wettest place) and other tourist attractions. Basically, it is for those who love the outdoors - Nature lovers.
