After seeing the so called tourist points in Shillong we thought this would be another disappointment, even the view from top of the road didn't look promising. However when we reached the lake I must say it was pretty beautiful place, an ideal place to come with family and have a picnic ( if its allowed) I feel even the... More

Just loved the place and could not stop thinking about it long after leaving Shillong. Personally feel it is the best natural attraction of Shillong.

This place is on the way to Guwahati airport from Shillong. A beautiful big lake. It opens around 10am and closes at 5pm if I am not wrong. Sundays open. Got Boating facility. But make sure if you are planning to go for boating the day is not windy. If theres strong wind they will close the boating. No swimming... More

I love this place. it resembles the 'Lochs' in Scotland. It is quiet and beautiful. It is on the way to Guwahati. If you want to stay here then you need a vehicle for all time because the town is far away.

While on way to Shillong from Guwahati one can see the lake from even a distance. You have to cross the Dam, which is used for Hydro Electric power generation. The lake contains more water because of the Dam. You can park your car and vsit the lake for some time and come back. Beautiful place

Nice expanse of water with a peaceful park. It was pleasant in winters, not so sure of summers. The boating options are good but a bit of mismanaged.

The lake is beautiful and looks awesome in even low visibility. The Meghalaya tourism offers boating facility at the lake with different types of boats such as sail boat, motor boat, pedal boat.

It's not "umium", it's "Umiam". 'Um' meaning water and 'iam' meaning 'tears' or 'to cry'. This place is very beautiful and is best viewed in the evening when the sun is about to set n the rays shine beautifully through calm, clear waters of the lake. There is not much to do there, other than enjoy the view and take... More
