The barge ride out is interesting, but the island is verticle, crowded, and littered with vendors and people selling fried minnows. The height of the venture is the monument on the highest point of the island. There is nothing colonial there. I will say looking at the island from the mainland or el estribo is much more scenic. Traveling from Pátzcuaro to Isla Janitzio by boat is nice, but once you get there the island is not pretty, and please do not eat there! Just just enjoy the lake view and get back to Pátcuaro. More
