People will say there are better beaches on the island. Perhaps that's true. Basin Head is easily the most fun! There's a little museum there. History of the area and fishing. It's nice. There are also a bunch of little shops. A shop to get t-shirts, towels, tourist stuff. There's also a shop to get lunch. Burgers, hot dogs, that...

This is an absolutely perfect stretch of PEI beach. When we arrived mid-week in September, the place was empty, and we walked the beach to MacVanes Pond (5km return). Even had a swim, though the onshore wind mad it a bit iffy.
Lovely foreshore dunes. It was just unfortunate that the museum was closed- like most of PEI, after Labour...

Great beach; great tides and bridge to jump off of! This was great for the family. Also, there were really good changing facilities and ample parking.
Other beaches are more world famous but this gem is the best! Located alongside is PEI's fisheries museum, and it is a good one.
We were driving around the island and decided to stop in due to the advertisements for the place and the 'singing sands' -- wanted to see what that was. Anyway, it is a cute tourist stop. One issue.. we went just a few days after Sept 15 (2012) and all was closed... there looks to be all little shops there,...

Love this place! a great place to spend the entire day with friends or family! Excellent place for swimming in the water, all sand and very clear. As for the boardwalk and jumping off of it, it is never ending fun! Much better when the tide is still or going in, but you can still jump when it is going...

Much nicer beach than Cavendish or Brackley and you don't have to pay to use it. There are also change rooms/showers and a take-out restaurant on site with outdoor seating.
Beautiful, clean, well maintained park, with lots of life guards. The kids and a few adults who think they are still kids enjoy jumping off the bridge. Note there is a little hike down to the beach. Also there is not park fee, what a bargain!
Brought the kids to Basin Head during our trip "home". They absolutely loved it. It's a great spot for the kids to jump off the bridge and float out to sea. A great day had by all.
