Such a neat place to see! And really quite a cheap place to tour! Loved that it was an explore on your own kind of tour! My husband and I loved it!
The battleship is second world war vintage and is berthed on the Cape Fear river directly across from downtown Wilmington. Easily accessible by car or ferry, it is in wonderful condition, and we spent a great morning seeing how the seamen of 50 years ago, at war, spent their time. A must for "sea people" or military historians.
We spent the day in Wilmington and decided to visit the battleship, finally. Glad we did! Amazing to see the technology and big guns of yesteryear as well as the way the sailors lived back then. Be prepared for lots of climbing up and down narrow and steep stairways between decks. The tour is self guided so you can take...

The self guided tour was long... i found myself just trying to get out at one point. I feel like they could shorten it up or do something for those looking to just hit the high points. The ship is larger than I thought and after over an hour of feeling like a hamster and winding through all the hallways...

I love history, but at first I protested going because I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the time on it. I was SO wrong! The ship turned out to be one of my favorite parts of our vacation. It's only $12 and we ended up spending almost 4 hours exploring! I loved the way that the tour was...

If you like military history or large mechanical thing. Well this is the place. Lots of stairs so wear good flat rubber soled shoes. My daughter slipped down on of the many ladders. The kids and I loved the ships and one sub. Wife was not so impressed, not her thing. Overall it was a good day and a great...

We stopped in Wilmington on our way up to New England and Canada and spent a very enjoyable afternoon touring this WWII battleship. The ship is very well maintained and there are numerous displays highlighting the ship history and life on board the ship.
I went tp the Battleship with my four year old son. I would not recommend taking a small child because of the stairways with only metal railing with large gaps children could fall a significant distance. On the lower decks, there are small open areas in the grating around equipment that children might put their feet and legs through. While...

No visit to Wilmington, NC would be complete without touring the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial. The battleship is wonderfully preserved both inside and out. There are placards and information posted everywhere to help guide you through the history of what actual life was like on the ship which was extremely helpful considering this is a self-guided tour. Plan to...
