I happened upon an article in the North Carolina "OUR STATE" magazine about this place and did a little more research and decided a visit there would be a nice day trip. It was a 3 hour drive from Winston-Salem, but well worth the trip. Beautiful birds, nice facility, and helpful staff. One would have to travel around the world... More

This was a neat little bird sanctuary we found via one of those discount web sites. Although a two hour drive from Raleigh, we felt it was well worth it. There was a place to hand-feed birds (mostly parakeets, but very friendly), many birds from all over the world, and some rescued exotic birds who for one reason or another... More

Great place to spend a couple of hours. Our 6 grandkids age 14 to 2 had a very good time walking the park, sneaking peeks at the beaver dam blind, finding the queen bee in the hive, playing on the play ground equipment, feeding the koi fish, and, of course, being so close to the birds. You'll enjoy walking through... More

This park was just wonderful. Clean and well maintained. The Landing Zone Area is a must see. There are hundreds of parakeets(So many you have to be careful not to step on them). A nice easy walk with five areas(North and South America, Australia, Africa and Eurasia). There is also a wetlands area with viewing blinds to view beavers and... More

It's obvious that a lot of time and energy goes into not only maintaining, but expanding the park. Enjoyed the afternoon.

Our State, a North Carolina based magazine, recently published an article about Mike Lubbock (the man who created the park) that inspired me to drive 200 plus miles to check out one of the world’s best collections of waterfowl. And thank God I did. It’s like stumbling upon a secluded visually stunning paradise that engages the soul with its assortment... More

This park houses the largest collection of waterfowl in the world, has a breeding program for waterfowl..and also has interactive exhibits containing exotic birds from around the world. It far exceeded my expectations and I will be back soon!

A great treasure in what really is the Middle of No Where. Very affordable entry fee and nice way to spend a Sunday. You can get up close to some cool birds such as: peacocks, flamingos, cranes, swans, ducks, parrots, etc. We loved the parrots and swans. Be sure to check out the Black Swans and their babies. Theres also... More
