We called about 9am on a Sunday and asked if they had a morning rafting session that same day. Sandy politely answered that their session for that day left at 2pm. That didn't fit into our travel plans so she quickly offered that if I could be there by 10 ( we were 30 minutes away in Asheville) that she... More

So glad we were able to help get you on the river. We try to be flexible and work with folks because we love this old river and these old mountains and want to share that with as many people as possible. And it's one of the advantages of being a small company. We have the gear. The owners and... More

We had a great time rafting with Blue Heron. Everyone was really nice. Sandy was a great guide. Frank took such good photos of us rafting that we ended up buying the photos afterwards. They had a lot of clothes available for use on the rafting trip. The safety video was short and very informative. The facilities were nice and... More

We're very glad you came rafting with us and we're even more glad that you had a good time. Even though we're a small, locally owned company we have decades of experience in the whitewater rafting world and strive to provide a quality experience on and off the water. Couldn't / wouldn't do it any other way. Thanks again. More

We visited Blue Heron Whitewater Rafting on March 10, 2013. We had Sandy as our tour guide and Fritz as our own personal photographer. This was our first time ever whitewater rafting. Sandy made us comfortable, went over safety and tips, and even threw in a geology lesson. The business thought of everything to make the experience amazing, even down... More

Thanks for coming down the river with us. And for taking the time to write a review. We really appreciate it. And you didn't have to be from Florida to think March was freezing. People around here have been calling this March Marchuary. But it's almost seventy degrees today and birds are chirpen and flowers are bloomen. Time to shed... More

I have been on a few whitewater rafting excursions and this tops them all!! I went with my husband, brother and sister in law and we had the entire rafting trip on the French Broad all to ourselves. It was the first time my brother and his wife had ever been rafting and now they are hooked. Our guide, Sandy,... More

Thanks for rafting with us. October is certainly a beautiful time of the year to be on the river and so is spring. Right now the wildflowers are starting to bloom and the trees are budding out with the red buds of the maples making the hills almost as red as October. Then there's the deep, rich greens of summer... More

We used Blue Heron for a family excursion and it was such a hit! The guides were so funny and excellent hosts. It was cold, but they managed to keep us warm (they even got a few brave soldiers to jump in the water. Very fun trip and we can't wait to return!

Thanks for rafting with us in November! Brave souls, but you can pretty much go rafting on the French Broad in almost any weather if you've got the right clothing. The 2013 season is getting started and things are warming up. Or you can wait til December and be our first December trip. We'll bring the egg nog. More

This company knows how to take care of their patrons! We were given booties, flannel shirts, wet suits...basically anything we needed to be comfortable for our Fall rafting experience. Our guide made sure we were informed and as active in the rafting experience as we were comfortable with. Not only was the river experience fun & exciting, but our guide... More

Glad you had a good trip and stayed warm. As they say: "there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing". We want everyone to be warm and happy because if you're not happy, we're not happy. Thanks for your comments and for rafting with us. Hope to see you next year, or sooner. We'll go anytime you want... More

My wife and I have gone whitewater rafting a dozen or so times in the last few years, and Blue Heron is far and away the best experience we've had to date. Super friendly and helpful guides with a lot of local knowledge and a willingness to engage with you, very reasonably priced (and they don't charge for gear rental,... More

Isn't it great to see bald eagles return to the French Broad River? They've only been back a few years and it's always a thrill to see one in a tree or overhead, scanning the river for fish. Having the right clothing on a cool day can make all the difference, and since not many people have their own wetsuits,... More

This was a perfect family trip, thanks Blue Heron! Sandy and Dana were our guides and took great personal care of us, from taking care of our worries about the cold (it was 45 degrees that morning but their top-notch gear had us all feeling snug and warm) to our special vegan meal request (delicious) to offering different rafting options... It was our first time whitewater rafting and I called over 20 outfitters in the Ashevillle area. Most were very helpful and the rates were very similar so it really came down the service. Sandy at Blue Heron was teh only person that actually answered all my questions without acting put out or annoyed. I have 3 young boys, but... More

One of the best parts of our already great job is getting to meet and share river time with new and interesting people from all over the country and the world. We get to do this every day!
