Kind of a creepy place to be in the daytime, especially if you go through & read some of the gravestones. Would really be creepy at night. Next time I go I think I'll take the Ghost Tour. More

It was very interesting to be under the canopy of sprawling trees and take time to read the old stones with inisightful epitaphs, a feeling of being isolated from the activities going on just beyond the iron gates. More

This cemetery covers the first couple hundred years of the area. There are many interesting graves and markers along with a number of historical figures buried here. Be sure to pick up a guide or book with a map first so you can find you way thru it. More

Hear about the lives of the families of Beaufort including Confederate soldiers. Fascinating and sobering, one of the highlights of Beaufort. More

If you enjoy history and scary stories than stop in to this attraction. It is the oldest cometary Ive been in , in the US. There are special marked graves and a map that gives you info. Stop in the info center down the street and grab one before you go. It opens at 9 and closes gates at 5pm. More

The old burying ground is maintained by the historic society and you can get the self-guided tour brochure at the grounds (just inside the gate to the right - LEAVE A DOLLAR IN THE BOX). Best to learn about it from a guide, though. Several tours in town offer different perspectives on the old stories - all are pretty cool.... More

I am a local. Some colleagues and I took a tour hosted with one of the ladies from the historical center. WOW--how crazy good can a cemetary visit get? She made each person come alive with her stories, her antics, her anti-north comments (in jest--I'm guessing because I am from Boston), and the whole scenary. It was really a tremendous... More
