The Bardavon is a charming, old, restored theater with decent elbow room; it's not cramped like other old theaters (i.e., Tarrytown Music Hall), and I enjoy seeing shows (stand-up comedy, music, classic movies, opera) as I do at the charming, old Palace Theater in Albany. The Bardavon has had several iterations of its life. It is a piece of Poughkeepsie nostalgia and a landmark. Many buildings near and around it have been torn down, etc. The way it is now, is a throwback to an era when life was slower, people talked to each other, and the theatre was their only entertainment. Some of the... More

The Bardavon is a movie house I went to as a kid to see the 007 James Bond and other movies from that time. It has evolved into a beautiful concert hall as well.

What a beautiful location. They have done a wonderful job restoring the Bardavon. We have gone to see movies, plays, ballets, Irish step dancing and speakers. I am so glad that it is in Poughkeepsie.

Great care has been taken to make this a premier theater in the Hudson Valley. I have seen movies and concerts there over a number of years and the place is just great. The staff and volunteers are helpful, the interior has been masterfully restored and the acoustics are top-notch. I like the size of this venue, less than 1,000... More

Great view of the stage from any seat and wonderful acoustics. Recently saw "Capitol Steps" - hilarious and irreverent commentary on US politics!

This is a beautiful opera house, newly renovated . I saw the Nutcracker here, last Christmas. Not a bad seat in the house, since the building is small, with a very intimate feel.
