On my way from Mass. to Long Island, I decided to take the ferry from CT to Orient Point. I have taken many vehicle ferries in Europe, but this was my first in the states. I didn't have a reservation, but there was space available, so I waited for about an hour. The ferry loaded me and my vehicle on... More

I booked a trip online, had never taken the Cross Sound Ferry, and I was nervous about getting to the ferry on time as well as how the whole trip would go. It was the easiest thing to do. Someone meets you at the entrance to the parking lot, scans your printed receipt, hands you your tickets, and directs you... More

I love the ferry! I take it anytime I head to New England--it's soooo relaxing & really breaks up the driving! It's worth the extra few dollars for the priority service- first on, first off & not the dreaded upper deck (that alone is worth it to me!!) also love the SeaJet service to the casinos--more than worth the money!... It is practically a transportation no glamor or atmosphere, it is good for that. Don't expect much, it is -after all- the only option you have to cross the sound. The best part is looking out the windows and enjoying the ride. Food, not impressive, just a chow!

So I travel three times a month on the ferries all year long . I normally have no issues only when its busy and then it seems no one knows what is going on. Busy weekends are a big problem on the off season I have the priority pass and some how don't end up off first so why do... More

On-time arrival, smooth sailing and a wonderful sunset over LI Sound. Bring your own food, but they do have full bar service.

On the last day of our New England Tour, we decided to use the ferry and drive through New England to JFK rather than drive through Connecticut - as we had done previously. It was a lovely warn and sunny day in mid October and the ferry was definitely more relaxing - even although it didn't cut many miles of... More

This is a great way to get to the North Fork of Long Island from Connecticut. The Montauk ferry service stops running after Labor Day, so if you're trying to get to the Hamptons, add another 1.5 - 2 hours once you land in Orient Point. You'll also have to factor in the cost of taking the Shelter Island ferries-... More

Its a Ferry. one of two ways to get to the island. How do you rate it when the only other option is flying.

The ferry from Orient Point, NY was a treat after driving through NYC to Long Island. It saved us nearly two hours of driving, and we had a beautiful day to see the sites along the way. Nice little bar and cafe on board. We travelled in mid-September without reservations, and there was no wait. Friendly, informative staff as well.... More
