My Dad was a big fan of Kit Carson stories when he was a kid, so we stopped by his home/museum in Taos. We liked the authentic setting - it was actually his house - but the museum was small, an didn't have a lot of artifacta from his life. the man who ran the place was friendly and informative.... A very well done museum in Kit Carson's house. The presenter was very knowledgeable in all aspects of the time period. There is a great video to watch. I learned a great deal about the exploration and settling of this part of the country. Why couldn't my history classes have been as interesting. More

OK, so it's not a world-class museum but it IS a way to give you perspective. Kit Carson & family lived here.... this gave me an appreciation for how we live today. The guide was passionate and very informative. Worth 1/2 hour of your time, in my opinion. More
