Great place with a nice variety of entertainment and movies. Perfect night out is dinner in Downtown, walking to the Music Hall for a show and grabbing a drink later at the Gaslight. This review page won't let me show it, but I'm a frequent patron of The Music Hall!

The Music Hall is a historic theatre that has gone through extensive and beautiful renovation. However the best feture of this place is the acoustics. I first saw the Persuasions and Davis Bromberg here many years ago. Neither used the sound system (their choice). The sond is just so pure andd clear. Recently saw John Prine. What a treat to... The Music Hall always has top notch shows going on. They often have some pretty big, well-known artists perform there. I've been to quite a few shows, and I have never been let down. A few years back, they did some renovations, which have been a stellar change. You'll enjoy the bar/lounge in the lobby before the show and during... More

As fun as the comedy show was the wonderful restoration of the Music Hall itself. there are lobbies at two levels with contemporary bars to serve between acts. A treasure that has been preserved.

The Music Hall is a great asset for the City of Portsmouth as well as a great attraction for visitors. The Hall offers an incredibly wide variety of events--lectures, Met Opera performances, singers, comics, and on occasion a Russian ballet company. I have to say in terms of value, it simply cannot be beat. Same for variety. My only wish... More

Saw Rick Steves lecturing on 19 March, he braved the snow as did I! The hall has excellent acoustics, plus it has a certain gemutlichkeit to it you just don't get with bigger arenas or even halls similar to it. It was clean, both inside and out, the bathrooms were nice and well kept up. Were I not going to... More

March 16 Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes was a great show as they can put on. House was far from full, but still he put it on for US.

Saw Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes on a Saturday night. Very friendly staff, both out front and in the hall during the concert. The seats are a little high school auditorium-ish, but the theater itself is in amazing condition. It was refreshing to see the staff actually asking people to stop filming on their cellphones, an unnecessary distraction if... More

I love the warmth of this classic music hall. The seats are great, the decor is very nice and it is clean and relaxed. The bathrooms were also very clean. It is really the perfect place to see a show. My only minor complaint is that you cannot bring your drink to you seat. Most places seem to let you... More

Loved the beautiful venue. Annoyed by the ushers. I understand that they want people off their cell phones, but the ushers leaning over everyone and yelling at people was way more annoying than people using their phones.
