The St. Croix River is very clean for a river. It's nice place to walk dogs. There is a lot of boating activity in the summer.

We loved going through the St. Croix river areas to catch fall leaves turning colors. We have gone for a weekend and stayed in the Stillwater area, but you will need to plan ahead when visiting this area in the fall colors time because "all" hotels in the area were booked solid that weekend we tried it without reservations. Super place to sail, or enjoy the summer joy. This is a blast but can be swamped with those cigarette boats, tailgater folks and lots of river traffic. Come early

Rented a canoe in Grantsburg, WI and paddled our way down to Osceola. The St. Croix is a wild and scenic river, wonderfully unspoiled and perfect for canoeing.

We have canoed and rode the paddleboats from Taylors Falls, Stillwater and St. Paul. Always an enjoyable time.

Living in Stillwater, which is right on the river, it is easy to take for granted the lovely views from the river. Stillwater's main street is great any time of year for great shopping and good eats! If you visit when the paddleboats are running they are a must do! The price is very resonable for a great view of... More

The river itself is the gem of this area. If you enjoy boating, canoeing, or swimming, this is a great destination. But, leave time to explore the towns that line the river. My favorite it Hudson, Wisconsin. This small town is filled with wonderful shops and restaurants. A couple of my favorites are Seasons on the St. Croix (art), and... More

The river is pretty frozen. The weather was too cold to take a walk. I would like to come back in the spring to enjoy more of the outdoors in Saint Paul.
