Being from southern Australia where fresh water is at a premium and rivers with actual water in them are rare, the St Croix was a really awesome sight for me... very wide with clear water (instead of the muddy waters of our own few rivers)... Stillwater is a great place to walk around. Although it is mostly shops, you will be able to see the historic homes and waterfront. The dining is excellent. At least 2 candy stores and several ice cream shops. More

Enjoy the water as you dine outside at the Dock Cafe or the Freighthouse. The old town feel of Stillwater along with the St. Croix river provide a great day/evening for yound and old. More

Great for boating and water sports, whether with your own yacht, speed boat or even canoe, or riding atop one of the classic paddle/river boats. Water Fun, plus great views of the foliage and nature's finest on both sides of the river. More

I always enjoyed hiking along this river and boating on it also. Nice sandbars to a picnic stop, access to Stillwater, and hiking trails along the state parks. Canoeing is great also. More

Stillwater is right on the St Croix River and provides a quick 'get out of town' from the larger cities of Mpls/St Paul. It's roots are that of a lumberjack town and Main Street still hold the ambience of by-gone days. Great restaurants too. More
