This was a nice afternoon with my husband and step son. It was worth the time and money. It is a small zoo, but clean and well kept.
It is a well kept zoo, very clean and laid out in an organized fashion. The are expanding the zoo. It is also great to see what new animals are showing up. It is fun to spend the day and enjoy a picnic out by the pond outside the zoo.
great for small children, nice play area for them to run around so you can sit for a while. Like most zoos expensive food and drinks but you can pack a lunch and there are places all around you can eat lunch. If your use to a large zoo this is nothing exciting but still nice for small children to... More
We love the John Ball Zoo. It is smaller and doesn't have as many exhibits as the Binder Park Zoo or Detroit Zoo - but those are hours away. It has many great exhibits and a lot of extra hands on activities like the sting rays, petting zoo, birds. It is a clean zoo and the animals are well taken... More
Another staple of the city, John Ball Park as we've always called it has stayed the same, yet changed, over the years... from the kids climbing on John Ball's statue at the entrance to the later added penquin pool and petting zoo, it's been a place learning and fun for those of West Michigan for years!! Ride a camel, watch... More
John Ball Zoo is a nice way to spend a few hours in Grand Rapids. We went on Saturday October 19th, and they had a bunch of halloween activities for the little ones, which I thought was cute. The zoo is surprisingly fairly large, with most of your feature animals, including lions, monkeys, cougars, and your indoor exhibits (including penguins!).... More
This is a great zoo that you can do in about 3 hours. When we got there the admission was more than what was advertised on their website. The girl said she would check on it later. Which, when we looked later, they changed it. So, we had to pay the higher price. There were new exhibits since last year.... More
It is worth the cost which includes supper plus program. It is done with small groups and is age appropriate. The leaders were wonderful and all left with smiles, knowledge of animals and a want to come again.
I have lived in GR my whole life, and I have seen the zoo grow and change so much. Its a great place for kids, they now do lots of animal feedings and have gotten much more interactive. Feeding the stingrays is great! You can also feed the little birds. There is a zipline and ropes course for more adventurous... More
We visited on 9/10. The admission price was great. The "train" or whatever it's called was still down, which the girl at the ticket booth must not have known because she told us to take it lol. The zoo took us about 4 hours to get through, but we looked at everything! It was super hot and some of the... More
