I'm not a gardener, but I found the botanic garden to be quite fascinating, and just plain fun to walk around. It's all indoor greenhouses, so you can go any time of year. There are some very unusual species. Also a nice display of flowers and poetry in the entrance area.

The greenhouse is a great place to warm up on a crisp March day. Beautiful trees and plants - worry we missed the spring bulbs show.

Beautiful, lush, hot, humid... all in the greenhouses at Smith College in the dead of winter. I have been going here since I was a kid- it never disappoints. Stop in if you're in the area and take a stroll around the greenhouses... if anything, just sit in the palm trees and pretend you're on vacation.

It is such a beautiful feeling among so many flowers and plants. When I came with my husband, he would watch how happy and absorbed I was and told me that I can become a full time volunteer here when I retire. This weekend is the final two days of this year's Spring Bulb Show.

Always a treat to enjoy a tropical weather feeling while the outside is dreary at this time of year in New England. Well worth the few dollars admittance request and the sights/aroma of earth & flowers at this time of year can't be beat.

Even very off-season, when I went (with some friends visiting from overseas), the greenhouse area was an interesting place to tour. It must be stunning during the fall and spring flower displays -- I plan to go back then and fight the crowds to see the bulb show.

When you think winter will never go away go to the botanic gardens and smell the flowers and wander in the tropic area and drink in the warm humidity. Restores your faith in Mother Nature.
