nothing was open because it was before 'the season' but the view was still beautiful. Wish there had been more to do there.

Over the years the Old orchard Pier has changed due to the times and fires. Today, it offers the amusement park people a chance to see what a pier is supposed to be like. Great views of the beach, places to get french fries with a touch of vinegar, a dough boy with powdered sugar, and some Maine friend clams....

We went here in March and just loved how quiet it was. We sat together and watched the sun go down almost every night. It was beautiful when it was empty but I don't think I want to see it in the summer.
Old Orchard Beach offers a lot of fun things, and the Pier is one of them. I like walking the pier, doing some shopping, stopping to eat and listening to the soothing sounds of the water.
If you just say "The Pier" anywhere in the Portland area, everyone will know you're talking about the pier at Old Orchard Beach. Rich in history and rebuilt numerous times due to storms and fires, it's a summertime tradition to visit "The Pier" at least once a season for many residents of Southern Maine.
Great views from along the pier...

I live in the area and all shuts down except for the summer months. The pier offers beautiful vistas if you can make your way through the crowds in the summer months

My favorite place to hang out in the summer! I live in OOB and even though it's overrun with tourists in the summer, I can't stay away! Love the fried dough and pier food. The bar at the end is great... try the pier punch!
The Pier certainly has changed from what it used to be. I remember going up on the pier and a man was making donuts Oh they were good. It seems like there used to be so many other things on the pier then what there is now.
a number of quaint places to have a brew, listen to music and watch the ocean. If you're on the pier as I was on the 4th of July, you'll be presented with a fantastic fireworks display. A little small if you're use to west coast piers but a treat to visit and talk with other.
