We found this spot later in the day, so were able to see the sunset and be down before dark. GREAT photo ops! We were there when it was quite cold in late November, and you could NOT drive up.

If you want a quick little hike with great views, this is it! We went after breakfast on one beautiful clear morning. The hike is steep in places, but quite short (<30 min) and rewards you with several beautiful lookouts on the way. Camden Harbor & the bay are stunning on a clear day from up there!
A cold very windy (even for coastal Maine) April day. We walked up the road, which was closed to traffic. Short hike but steep. This wind was howling. But that view of Penobscot and Camden is magnificent. Blue Hill, Mt Desert, the innumerable islands, and charming Camden down below. Worth the hike even in the weather.
Enjoy the short hike from the base OR drive to the top. The view of Camden Harbor is worth the time. The stone structure at the top will give you a nice view of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding scenes.
You can drive to the top or hike to the top. Either way, you'll love it when you get there. Bring a picnic.
Beautiful views of Camden harbor and great hiking with the family. You just have to make sure you go up on a clear day.
If you crawled up the front trail to the top of Mt Battie, you've earn one of the best views in Maine. If you drove up, well what can I write that won't get censored. You may have to go to Hong Kong to get a similar perspective, being so close looking down on town with a vibrant harbor.
This is a great hike from the base of the mountain-- really easy, even for unexperienced hikers. It's not terribly strenuous (I hiked it with a head cold) and the pay off is a spectacular view of Camden Harbor.
You can also drive up to the top, if you're not up for the hike. It's about a 45 minute hike...

Great views of Camden Harbor from this location. Foliage was very nice. This is where the mountain meets the ocean.....Awesome.
My husband and I try to get to at least one Historic site a year. Ones that are in our state and this is one of our favorites. The view is spectacular and it is just a wonderfully relaxing place to go. I would recommend this as a destination worth traveling to.
