This isn't a city zoo and if that's what your looking for, keep on driving. We have passed this numerous times, and yesterday decided to stop. I'm glad we did as the owner was a great guy full of stories and history. Stopping without spending some time talking to Larry is a a mistake. The animals all appear to be... More

I visited Prairie Dog Town with my 3-year-old son while driving through Kansas. The roadside signs made it seem kitschy and fun, but I left feeling deeply saddened and disappointed. The animals are not kept in satisfactory conditions, especially the carnivores. The coyotes were kept in a bare cage with a cement floor, with nothing in it but a box... More

We stopped here on a whim to break up the drive through Kansas. It was really nice. It's obviously a roadside "mom and pop" attraction but we really enjoyed it. They had a variety of different animals that included some rare birds, a five legged cow (it really does have an actual 5th leg sticking out of its back), and... More

We saw the signs on I-70 to go to Prairie Dog Town. My 9-year-old son wanted to go, but we didn't have time on the way to Colorado... but I promised him we would stop on the way back. What a mistake. The old guy at the desk made it seem like something we would enjoy, then we walked out... More

We recently stopped here on a cross country road trip with our 8 and 10 year old boys. We proably spent an hour. It was a great place to see a lot of animals and stretch your legs. The 40+ rattlesnakes were great entertainment as were the tons of prairie dogs. (We don't get the latter in California.) And where... More

I read the negative reviews after visiting in early June, 2010, and am glad to say that PDT is now Very Good, in my opinion. I found that the animals all looked well cared for and well fed--in fact, we were disappointed that they didn't seem all that excited about eating the food from the little bag that we bought... More

I stopped at Prairie Dog Town not knowing what to expect based upon reading various online reviews. What I found was a unique attraction and animals that were well cared for. If you've never spent any time on a farm or around animals, then perhaps at first you might consider the conditions to be "cruel". However, it is obvious to... More

It's been a while since I have been there. We are making plans to go again. We will write another review after visiting to give our real opinion. We don't like prairie dogs. They hurt the farmland. We know this because we are from Oakley. Yea!! More

While on our way to the National Debate Tournament we see a sign advertising this place; wanting to enjoy all Kansas has to offer we decided to stop. We first saw a box full of rattle snakes surrounded by things that should never be taken to a taxedermist. The lady working there decided to give us a show by scraping... More

My husband and I have visited Prairie Dog Town twice. The first time we were driving through KS and saw numerous signs promising us a 5-legged cow, LIVE rattlesnakes and of course, the worlds LARGEST prairie dog. We had to stop. And we did, however it was closed. So the next year, we drove back, as well as this year.... More
