We had made dinner reservations to the cafe while we were in Chicago for vacation, It was expensive for what we got but it made my daughters day how they catered to her and her doll! Dinner was few dollars more so we skipped lunch. The store is expensive and the outfits are overpriced but it is American Girl Store... More

Yes, their dolls and products are expensive, but the experience of eating with your doll is so adorable! The restaurant is decorated beautifully and they cater to the kids. Even though this is supposed to be a "fancy" restaurant, you won't worry about your child spilling or getting dirty looks since they cater to little kids. I would recommend going... More

I accompanied my 2 nieces to this store - it is a temple to girlish consumerism. Not quite the qualities I want to impart on young women, but as an Aunt, what could I do....? I did not want to disappoint. I girl (the youngest) loved it and was in a state of rapture, the other not so much. Unless... More

As part of my daughter's birthday present my wife and I took our 7-year-old daughter here today. What a great time we all had. While we didn't have a tea or lunch thing, my daughter did get her doll's hair done and eventually, after much searching and a game of "eeney, meeney, miney, moe," selected a new outfit for her... This place is really fun and has an atmosphere of adventure- however, you'll even find yourself thinking "I need the real size version of that bed. Now." Combine the buy-it-all attitude and girls' enthusiasm and you can easily walk out with with an obscene amount of well made but upsettingly expensive dolls and accoutrements. Rules like "one matching outfit set... More

Yes, I bought a doll, yes, I felt like I was an evil materialistic consumer doing so. But my daughter loved the store and the doll. Definitely worth a look. Don't take a kid in there unless you want to drop some cash.

Visited with 2 friends while on a weekend getaway.,We are from Canada and wanted to see what the appeal was, having heard the shop mentioned on TV. The dolls are very pretty and some of the accessories are over the top! Did not purchase anything for my grandaughter since the whole concept targets American girls. Fun to see though.

I admit it. I'm a grown woman and I have an American Girl doll. So when I was recently in Chicago on business, where did I want to go? Yep, the American Girl doll store, or to state it properly, American Girl Place. It was pouring rain one of the two days I visited but when I got to the... More

My daughter and I have been here several times, and every time it's probably just as magical for me, as it is her. We have three American Girl dolls, and I use them as special presents when she gets good grades, good behaviour, etc. Our most recent trip there was this December, in between Christmas & New Years while visiting... My 7 yr old daughter said "it was better then Disney!" Very expensive but a great memory. Spending Daddy's money and then a tea party with Daddy what more could a girl want. My husband loved it, as much as my daughter. My 18 yr old loved it as much. Great time! Worth the money.
