We did this tour on a sunday morning at 10am. We had the Go Chicago pass. This is a great thing to do if you want to see the Loop in a different way. We've stayed in the Loop a number of times and are pretty familiar with the area. Even though we've seen many of the buildings, it's fun... More

Definitely a must when visiting Chicago! This river cruise will give you a whole you a whole new appreciation for the stunning architecture that exists in this beautiful city! The "tour guides" are all volunteers at the Chicago Architecture Foundation and they go through extensive training for over 1 year to conduct these tours. They are a wealth of knowledge... More

We took the Highlights by Bus tour, which included sites in the Loop, Hyde Park, and other South Side areas, the Univ. of Chicago, and the ITT campus. Tour included an interior tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House. The guide was clever and very well informed.

The CAF offers many different walking tours so there is a lot to choose from. We went on the Sculpture Walking tour which covered sculpture as structure, structure as sculpture, and sculpture as art. Our guide, Jane, kept up a brisk pace which allowed us to see more than the other half of the group. She was extremely knowledgeable and... More

We did the walking tour called "Historic Downtown (North Loop): Treasures of Culture and Commerce". Our volunteer docent was well informed and also made use of helpful notes as we walked approximately a dozen blocks in a 2-hour tour. We especially appreciated the headsets, which allowed us to hear her easily and still see the architecture easily. We enjoyed the... More

I have done two other Chicago architecture river tours- BUT NOT BY THE ARCHITECTURE FOUNDATION- and this is the one to take! It is a bit pricey but well worth it. What a pleasurable and very good educational experience. Make sure you get there when they tell you to as there is a long line and good seat selection. The... More

I've recently joined the foundation after moving here in October. The membership surely has its benefits. A household membership is $85 for the year. That allows you 2 free river cruises with the purchase of 2....you've just paid for your family's membership and..... many of your other tours are free!! We've been on the river tour, which is outstanding, and... More

The Sunday morning walking tour we did with CAF (South Loop: Rise of the Skyscraper) was a highlight of our first visit to Chicago. We had an excellent guide who took us to see some architectural gems built after the great fire until the Art Deco period, including several inside peeks. A bonus is the stunning CAF premises where the... More

We had only two hours, so had to be selective as to what we saw. The highlight was undoubtedly the Chagall American Window and we also enjoyed the Impressionist paintings and the Greek/Roman artefacts. Lots left to see on a future visit.
