The carving is very interesting to see when visiting Stone Mountain. They have an audio recording that you can play that will tell you the history in many different languages (you chose the language) while you are viewing the carving. The carving it neat but I wouldn't drive to Stone Mountain Park just to see it. There is lots of other stuff to do there, thought, and I think the trip overall is a good one. More

Stone Mountain has so many activities and for residents near the area, its a great morning walk up the mountain or around the base of the mountain. I like that the parking pass is good for a car full of visitors. View the documentary in the building by the tram ride. More

As we took the cable car up Stone Mountain, we moved closer and closer to the carving. Finally, we could see it perfectly! It was expansive, impressive, and HUGE! A piece of art carved into the mountain--with horses and riders that looked REAL! Later that day, we learned the history of the carving, including some surprising facts. More

The Carving is really beautiful. You do have to pay $10 to enter the park area just to see the carving, but you could just pay that and walk into the park without purchasing tickets for the other activities.
