Wakulla Springs is favorite escape on a hot summer day. The cold spring water is always a rush when you first jump in, but it keeps everything much cooler than the surrounding area. Other highlights: Plenty of shade, diverse and abundant wildlife (including manatees), the river boat cruise is always great, great nature trails (especially for birders), and it is... More

We visited Wakulla Springs in mid-April and were thrilled when we saw manatees drifting in the water and then poking their noses out of the water to take a breath. The water wasn't clear enough for the glass-bottomed boat trips to be running, so we took the River Boat tour instead. I have to say that this tour was the... More

If you want an authentic Old Florida experience -- this old mansion and estates converted into a state park is where you'll experience that step back in time to 1930's Florida where the beautiful lodge is basically the same as in its heyday -- look up at those incredibly ornate ceilings, awe at the masterful fireplace...the architectural splendor just keeps... Wakulla Springs is such a fun place to take the kids. Mine love all of the animals especially the alligators. Take a tour on the boat to see the animals and then enjoy a swim in the cold water. More

We took the boatride to view the wildlife on the river. It was so beautiful and untouched old Florida. Not too many places left like this any more. Great guide who was very interesting and knowledgeable. The facilities have been refreshed and must nicer nice. More

Naturally perfect. Take the boat ride, which last about 45 minutes. The state rangers are interesting, informative, and fun. If you have the chance stay at the lodge. It is simply special to fall asleep while listening to the sounds of nature; especially, the frogs. More

Went back for the 2012 Wakulla Wildlife Festival and it was so enjoyable! There were demonstrations and lectures on reptiles and predatory birds (hawks, owls and eagles). There were demonstrations of the old ways of manufacturing--such as spinning yarn, corn husking and even distilling liquor. The bluegrass bands were great. Not to be missed for next year--especially if you have... More

I came to Wakulla Springs with my 11 year old son, because I remembered how much I enjoyed it when I was a teenager. I had been showing him pictures of Wakulla online and he really wanted to visit. The rest of our vacation was spent in Orlando and Wakulla was a welcome respite from the noise and crowds. We... More

This is the place to go if you want to experience "old timey" Florida. The Jungle cruise always pays off with alligator sightings, and if you come during the winter you can watch more than a dozen manatees from the observation (diving tower) that sits above the spring head waters. More

We heard about this park from my wifes son and decided to visit it on a recent trip to Panama City Beach. It was about a 90 minute drive from our condo through the center part of the panhandle. We choose a Wednesday to make the trip thinking that it would be quiet and uncrowded during midweek. So much for... More
