I mentioned in my review of the aquarium that the main building is crowded - that's rarely an issue at the Lab. The most spectacular things are here, too - the manatees, dolphins, and sea turtles. It's great to be able to really talk with the people who work with these animals and get a good feel for them. Outstanding... More
These folks regularly do the impossible in breeding rare sea creatures and rescuing endangered ones. I saw some harlequin cuttlefish there that I could have watched for hours.
The highlight of this aquarium has to be how friendly and informative most of the volunteer workers are. Each exhibit area has someone who is willing to approach you with valuable and interesting tidbits about absolutely anything you can think of. The bulk of the tanks house really impressive lifeforms, even some my wife and I had not seen anywhere... More
We just got a family membership because it is a place we will return over and over. Our little kids (9 mo old twins) love the aquarium room the best. They just stare and follow the fish thru the glass. Better then anything fisher price makes - ha ha. GREAT place for the family.
Loved the people and their passion for the mission! Everyone was incredibly patient when my 7 yo daughter launched question after question at them. Fantastic place!
Lots of great exhibits for kids, including some exhibits you can touch. If your kids are really into dolphins, prepare them that there might not be many or any -- it's a rehabilitation center, so if there are no dolphins to rehab, the pool will be empty. (But that's a good lesson in itself.)
The marine lab has sea creatures on display in tanks for you to view. There are manatees and dolphins. There is a gift shop and a restaurant. We recently took our nephews and they were amazed! While you are there you can walk across the parking lot to see the sea bird rescue. I highly recommend it!
