Easy load and unload for a canoe trip, maps at the center so you know which way to paddle, maybe call ahead and find out when high tide is as some of the routes are impassable at low tide More

I've taken a few visitors to Weedon Island for the kayak trips (with kayaks provided by a 3rd party). It's a convenient and leisurly way to get a sense of the real Florida. More

We thoroughly enjoyed Weedon Island. Our first stop was the wonderful Disney-like interpretive center. The center covers both the natural and archeological history of the island. The gentleman on the desk was very helpful in planning our hikes. He obviously enjoyed his work and was very friendly. We took off for our first hike on the well-maintained boardwalks after viewing... More

Went kayaking here with some friends and it was gorgeous. I had no clue this place was here and I had driven by it so many times. Lots of people were just hanging out and fishing. Gorgeous place. More

Children learn here without even knowing that they are. Just a few moments here and they are tell you about nature. There are some nice board walks with viewing of the Tampa Bay waters. Sometimes its hard to find a cool spot from the Summer Sun. Bring a hat! More

I have kayaked the preserve several times. It's always a great trip. I prefer weekdays when there are fewer people on the water. Sometimes I have had the trail to myself all afternoon. I usually see rays on the last leg of the trip. WATCH the TIDES! More

This is an amazing experience!!! The paddling trail goes for about 4 miles through coastal islands and right through narrow passageways through Mangrove Swamps. You can rent a kayak at Sweetwater Kayaks which is located across the street from the visitors center. Plan about 3 hours or so to complete it, and be ready for some paddling.... There are other... This is a great place to canoe or kayak (bring your own) or just walk through the boardwalks. There is a lot of nature and a museum that shows history of the area. This is an excellent destination. Be sure to bring your own food and drink because there is place on the preserve to buy from. More
