I live not far from Plymouth Rock, a kind of mythical historical joke. Castillo de San Marcos is solid evidence of a presence in the New World long before the British set foot on the soil of the Americas. It is most informative with re-enactors in Spanish uniforms of the 17th century. If you are interested in history, do not... More

Lots of history, great view from top level. Kids loved it. Take water in summer months as it gets hot here!

I used to come here with my family when I was a little kid. The castle is fascinating, made out of crushed coquina. Don't miss the canon firing. There are stairs, and no railings, so be careful with little kids. Definitely worth seeing.

While on vacation with the grand kids visited this old fort. It is over 500 years old. Amazing. There were re-enactment personnel and cannon firing. The boys loved this! There is even a neat booklet the kids fill out by going around the fort and they earn a badge. Cute! I highly recommend this attraction.

Every time I go to St. Augustine I have a blast, as there are so many things to see and do! From horse-drawn carriages, to ghost tours, to train rides, to walking and self-guided tours, etc. One of the most impressive views to experience (aside from the City Gates still standing) is the Castle itself. Of course, you have to... More

The setting for Castillo de San Marcos is beautiful, on the waterfront. We didn't go inside the fort, however, we enjoyed walking around the exterior, both during the day and night. The views are wonderful and the photo opportunities are wonderful!

We visited on Saturday, June 8th. We specifically stayed in the area (Amelia Island) the night before on our drive down for a week's stay in the Daytona area in order to visit this attraction. So glad that we did this with our 3 sons. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the fort. We spent a little over 2... More

The view is magnificent around sunset, def worth seeing. The grounds to the Castillo are clean, the view of the Harbor stunning. We say a lot of families, couples and single people walking around and having a great time.

It's the fort. If you come you need to see it. Walk around, watch them fire the cannons, check out the rooms, talk to staff dressed in period correct clothing. Kids 15 and under are free. It's 341 years old so just standing on it is cool...

go early in the day, not as crowded or hot. Run by parks service, small fee to get in. do a tour if you can....lots of history. They fire the cannons a few times/day on Fridays, Sat's and Sun's.
