Yes, this one is actually very interesting. They will give a little map of the areas to look at, some of the more interesting tombstones to read. Look for the child's tombstone with the replica of the airplane.

First let me say that I have many relatives interred here. I am a descendant of the Peacon's and the Aguero's. To the comments of the cemetery being run down, well the cemetery is owned by the city and the plots are owned by the families and it is up to the families or volunteers to maintain the plots. while...

I was thrilled to see all the old stones and plots. The cemetery was established in 1847 and you can see a lot of the old stones some are so old and rubbed they can no longer be read, a lot of broken and distroyed plots a lot of family plots and a great photo oppertunity. I had the great...

I love touring old cemetaries and was not disappointed in this one. Of course being in Key West the graves are all above ground, like New Orleans and there's some really cool mausoleums and gravestones to look at. It's rather small, but very interesting and a nice little escape from the overrun touristy places
First thing I noticed was how overgrown some areas looked and the number of weeds growing. There are a few paved roads for walking, but the entrances are few and far between. If you're looking to walk straight through, you'll find you're not able. If it's a hot and sunny day, plan around the high noon hour as there is...

I am fascinated by old cemeteries and this one did not disappoint. My first "Southern Cemetery" (Used to New England Burial Grounds) so was intrigued by the monuments and foliage. Be sure to pick up the official guide book so that you can really absorb the history of the city and of the people interred here.
Best if walked, although we drove due to the heat. Started with the Memorial to the Battleship Maine area. Very humbling. Well done, KW! Then on to the rest of the graves. At the entrance they have maps with descriptions of the most famous and interesting graves in the cemetery. Truly a "Do Not Miss" experience. Make sure your camera...

Its where the dead are buried above ground! Key west is great and this place just adds to the flavor. definitely worth a stroll
I walked around and sat in the cemetery a very long time. I just kept thinking that key west is paradise...so why are so many people dying? If this is paradise then it must be like the garden of eden and everyone can live forever and have what they need. The sun is always sunning and the trees are greenish....

If your into this kind of thing it's fun. If your spending sometime on the island or biking around for the day it's worth the trip to just to explore. Lots if old dates and neat headstones. Interesting if your into that kind of thing. Me and my wife enjoyed it.
