This was a cute spot to sample wines or relax before/after dinner or a play. It is very similar in set up now that it's a cigar bar as far as the vibe. Calm, relaxing spot in the midst of the downtown area.

We stumbled onto Half Cork'd by accident on one of our visits to the Hipp. Basically the concept is a tasting bar with self service wine fountains that offer a taste, half glass, or full glass of wine or spirits. The staff will gladly explain the layout ( there is order to the placement of the wines & spirits) and will also assist with selection as much as they are able to do so. The selection changes each time I visit which has its pros and cons...I have discovered new loves and on occasion, left without really finding a satisfying offering. But the atmosphere is upbeat and people watching in Gainesville is always a blast. You can sip your wine on the patio, and they have apparently recently added cigars to their offerings. Interested to see how that is working and will post an update to my review following my next visit!!

Went to Half Cork'd for a date - we are both wine lovers and were waiting for a restaurant to open in the area so thought we would have a couple of glasses of wine before dinner. When we first walked in the smell hit me in the face. It was not pleasant. There was a good choice of wines - nothing spectacular. I felt it was pricey for the wines they offer and the amount dispensed.
The restrooms were so filthy - the toilet was black and pink with mold. The mirrors looked as if they had not been cleaned in a month.
The music was hard core - no lounge music here- definitely not my idea / choice for a nice glass of wine and conversation. I was disappointed and will not return.

Visited on a Saturday night. Nice selection of wines. Self serve dispensers allow the patrons to sample without waiting on servers or exchanging payment. You use a prepaid wine card instead. We enjoyed an atmosphere conducive to relaxing with a date, being able to have quite conversation without raising our voices. Oh...and the wine was fun as well. Not sure how it goes when the room is crowded. Enjoy!

Staff was very helpfull with pointing out what wines would fit my personal taste. I love the fact that you can load money on a card and try samples instead of having to buy a entire glass of something you don't like. They aslo have diffrent types of beer for those who don't like wine,
