Reknowned collection of American Illustrators (Howard Pyle and his students) and Pre-Raphelite Paintings. Exqusite museum that always offers an additional special gem in one of it's galleries. It's lovely to stroll in the area too. We visit 6 to 8 times a year.

Sunday is free admission courtesy of the DuPont family. Park, then walk past the magnolia trees into the small, but charming, sculpture garden which leads into the entrance. When I visited the museum's studio instructors were showing their works in the lobby. The Delaware Art Museum has the largest collection of Pre-Raphaelite artists outside of England. Definitely worth a visit just to see the Chihuly glass in the window. The Howard Pyle exhibit is great.

Yes, Wilmington has a Chihuly collection. Love it.But the museum is known for other artists -- e.g. Howard Pyle.

The museum has a nice standard collection and offers many good special shows. If they have a good special show this could be worth a trip from out of town.

Even if you can't get in (when it's closed) the sculpture garden is a lot of fun for a picnic. Love the museum and hope to get there more often.

Love the big glass flowers. They have updated and expanded since I was there last. Labyrinth walk and kinetic sculpture garden. Great paintings and changing displays.
